SUNSET CAMPOUT PORTABLE MURAL

Every summer for the last 14 years I have been part of something super special: Sunset Campout, produced by Sunset Sound System out of San Francosco. The Sunset Campout is a small intimate electronic music festival located in Belden on the Feather River in Northern California. Sunset is also a community, formed around dancing at sunset with like-minded folks in an outdoor location, and I was lucky enough to find them in the mid-90's when I moved to SF. Since then many of us have stayed connected, with dancing as our common theme (often outisde under moon and sun). When the Campout moved to Belden in 2009, I took on the role of Art Director for the event and over the years our production has grown on every level, with amazing and talented folks involved in making it the most magical experience. Each year I get to work with incredible talent - from muralists to performers to teams who create interactive sculptures and installations. Its become something very special. This year marked a turning point, the end of a chapter, landing on a high note and with the intention for us all to take some time out for other things and recalibrate to see what the future holds.

Each year I make one of these 'portable murals' created on tarps to hang on the main lodge. Here's this years iteration, and while we don;t know what the future of the Campout holds, Sunset Sound System is very much ongoing with events every few months in the Bay and beyond.
